Kenyans informed to watch football in their homes

Kenya: 'Watch football at home ‘

Kenya’s government has urged people to watch World Cup football matches in the comfort of their homes instead of in "crowded and unprotected open places".
The advice comes after two days of attacks on Kenya's coast earlier this week left more than 60 people dead.
They started in Mpeketoni as people were watching football on Sunday.
The interior ministry said that although security had been beefed up across the country, bar and restaurant owners should take extra precautions.
Somalia's Islamist group al-Shabab said it carried out the attacks over two days in and around the town of Mpeketoni in revenge for the presence of Kenyan troops in Somalia and the killing of Muslims.

Please if you are Kenyan or in Kenya, inform your friends and families about this, to help protect lives and properties.

The US has imposed sanctions on Uganda for anti-gay laws it says are "counter to universal human rights".
It said Ugandans involved in human rights abuses against gay people would be banned from entering the US.
The White House is also cutting funds to a number of programmes it is running with the Ugandan authorities, and cancelling a military exercise.
Uganda has said it will not be pressed by the West to change the laws, which can see gay people jailed for life.
personally, i see this as a threat to other anti-gay countries in Africa

Nigeria recovers $227m from Abacha's loot

'Abacha loot': Nigeria to get $227m from Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein will return $227m (167m euros; £133m) to Nigeria that was looted by the former military ruler Sani Abacha in the 1990s, the African nation's finance ministry says.
It was the culmination of a 16-year effort to retrieve the money, it added.
To secure it, Nigeria agreed to drop a legal case tied to Abacha's family.

Abacha ruled Nigeria from 1993 until his death in 1998 and is thought to have siphoned billions of dollars into bank accounts across Europe.

Transparency International says the dictator stole as much as $5bn during his five-year rule.
"We can confirm that Nigeria will on 25 June 2014 receive the sum of euros 167m ($227m) from the government of the principality of Liechtenstein, part of looted funds recovered from the Abacha family," Nigeria's finance ministry said in a statement.
