Kenyan Governor charged with terrorism over Lamu attack





Mr Timamy a Kenyan governor has been charged with terrorism and murder over attacks near Lamu in which scores were killed.
Issa Timamy, a regional governor, is the first high profile politician to be charged over the killings near the coastal town of Mpeketoni.

He faces multiple counts of murder, incitement and forceful evictions.

Even though the Kenyan president has blamed the attacks on political networks, despite the Somali Islamist group, al-Shabab, claiming responsibility, He will remain in police custody until 30 June, while investigations continue.

Abuja bomb blast in Wuse district kills 21
 


A bomb blast on a busy shopping district in Nigeria's capital, Abuja, has killed 21 people and injured 52 more.
The blast, near the popular Banex plaza shopping complex in Wuse district, could be heard from miles away and sent plumes of smoke into the air.
Police say a suspect has been arrested. No group has claimed responsibility.


Boko haram has always claimed responsibility of previous bomb attacks in the country, Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has been designated a terrorist by the US government.

Mrs Ibrahim's husband is a Christian from South Sudan and is a US citizen.
She was sentenced in May to hang for renouncing Islam - sparking an outcry - but was released from jail on Monday.

Meriam Ibrahim gave birth to a baby daughter in prison where security agents detained her and her husband Daniel Wani.

"The security authorities have not stated why she was apprehended and they are still being held in a security building at the airport," the lawyer added.
