Kenyan Governor charged with terrorism over Lamu
attack
Mr Timamy a Kenyan governor has been
charged with terrorism and murder over attacks near Lamu in which scores were
killed.
Issa Timamy, a regional governor, is the first high profile politician to be
charged over the killings near the coastal town of Mpeketoni.He faces multiple counts of murder, incitement and forceful evictions.
Even though the Kenyan president has blamed the attacks on
political networks, despite the Somali Islamist group, al-Shabab, claiming
responsibility, He will remain in police custody until 30 June, while
investigations continue.
